The slasher flick Prom Night is rather special for its time of release. The movie came out during a time when slasher movies didn't necessarily have a formula being over used like we see in later years. The film also takes place during a time when people were transitioning out of the 1970s disco phase. The beginning starts off similar to most revenge horror movies with a dreadful death. We're shown a flashback of young Wendy, Nick, Jude, and Kelly playing their version of hide and seek which involves screeching the words "the killer is coming!'. Kim and her younger siblings Alex and Robin stumble upon the abandoned building where the unique game of hide and seek is being playing. Kim and Alex run off leaving Robin to explore her curiosity inside the building. The 4 kids inside apparently have something against Robin and back her into a corner shouting "kill!". Robin ends up losing her footing and falling her to death out of a nearby window. The group of unruly kids all promise each other never to tell a soul of the event that happen that day and go on about their lives except somebody nearby was watching the whole time.

Jump forward six years and we're now met with teenage Kim (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Alex (Michael Tough) on the anniversary of Robins death. It just so happen to fall around the same time as the annual prom night which seems to be the talk of the town. Robin's killers each start receiving suspicious phones calls, harassing them about their secret. At this point there are many options in the viewers head as to who could be behind all of this. The night of prom arrives and so does a groovy disco dance-off with Jamie Lee Curtis burning it up like Saturday Night Fever. During this time the killer makes his way by tracking down everyone involved with Robin's death. Kelly receives a throat slash in the locker room while Jude stabbed on a late night fling. The death that sticks out the most and is the peak of climax is when Lou loses his head causing panic at the dance. The ending gives the viewers a somewhat predictable opportunity to predict the killer. The movie Prom Night definitely marks a golden age in slasher movie history.
