Ridley Scott's Alien is a phenomenal motion picture filled with eerie suspense constantly keeping the viewer guessing. The movie is about a crew in an isolated drifting spaceship while managing to get rid of an unwanted life form accidentally brought upon the ship. Similar to The Thing, viewers are presented with an unknown lifeform picking off crewmates out of the darkness. What sets this film apart however is how we barely see the alien itself making the overall mood incredibly tense. This gives off similar vibes to another John Carpenter classic known as Halloween. The viewer is constantly guessing when the killer will jump out of the darkness to snatch his prey up next which creates an on-edge mood.

Our star of the film Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver, absolutely despises the alien. Despite special orders to capture and bring it back home, throughout the Alien series, Ripley is strictly focused on the extermination of the wicked foe. What sets this film apart from the rest is how the viewer is only presented with a couple of short frames of the alien when it's released from its egg. We watch the tiny creature burst out of Kane's chest, (John Hurt) and for the rest of the film, we are unaware of what exactly this beast looks like. The final shots of the movie are where we see this gigantic life form with razor-sharp teeth and it's a visual viewer truly can't forget.
