Slippery Rock Community Library events and history through the years

After opening its doors in 2005, the Slippery Rock Community Library provided a welcoming environment while connecting people to services, activities, and technology to enrich life, literacy, inspire curiosity and stimulate the imagination. Besides the library located on campus, Slippery Rock never had a public library for those to attend. The reason why I chose to cover this for my proposal is that I want to highlight all how the library has helped those in need like myself. Over the years the community library has been involved in numerous events that have reached out to anyone with a love for reading or entertainment. A great example of this is recently the library hosted a mega book sale that took place in Butler. The event ran on a weekend in September where over 200,000 books, DVDs, cassettes, and types of vinyl were available for purchase. All proceeds benefited libraries throughout Butler County. The library will be hosting another book sale at the Slippery Rock Township building from October 29th-30th. I plan to document recent events the library has been a part of but also digging into a little about the history since opening in 2005.
